This seminar will provide an overview of the design challenges faced when engineering an autonomous robot submerged in hazardous locations; Industry pro-tips from subsea roboticist, Amy Underwood. Covered in this short lecture will be mechanical design, systems integration, and software architecture. Come see how industry takes an idea and turns it into a product.

Amy Underwood is a Senior Roboticist at Square Robot, orchestrating the development of their robots from concept to HazLoc-certified product. She is a former Senior Systems Engineer, Program Manager, and Technical Lead at Bluefin Robotics. Amy lead the product development of a low-cost AUV designed to facilitate rapid technology development. Amy is an alumni of the University of New Hampshire, earning her B.S.M.E in 2011 and M.S. in 2013, with the support of her advisor Prof. May-win Thein.
